Drone, Blue Sun (unpainted), a Krogan on the ladder.

*****

On the convention "Spiel Essen" in Germany it hit me. The looks of the product and the great explanations of the employee at the booth just got me. That it was on sale during the convention did the rest. :-)

So I bought two boxes from Mantic Games, namely the Battlezones Sci Fi Urban District and its destroyed counterpart. Both reminded me strongly of the colony containers from Mass Effect, and the modular design is a great idea anyway.
It felt like it took days to get off the grating - especially the connectors are quite enervating. But once that is done, it is simply fun to construct with these things. I have to build the scenarios ahead of the game sessions, though. Working with the connectors is a bit too time-consuming to do it while actually playing.

I didn't paint those things yet, so they had their first action uncolored. I built a checkpoint for a canyon on Noveria: a bridge across the canyon, with a fortified (and slightly damaged) watchtower next to it, including a sensor array and an AA gun.

So, on the left is what it looked like in the beginning.

And on the right... that's what it looked like when the player characters were through with it.

The second picture is the result of a fuel tank, a missile launcher, a threatening situation and a Krogan. So I add "destructibility" to the list of advantages of these elements. :-)

I'm looking forward to my next construction...
